Hello everyone! My name is Krystyna Korolchuk. I’m a dedicated registered dental hygienist with a passion for creating confident, healthy smiles. Born in Ukraine, raised in Argentina, and educated in Montreal, I’ve had the privilege of learning multiple cultures and languages—I speak French, English, Spanish, and Russian fluently.
Since graduating from Collège de Maisonneuve in 2018, I’ve worked alongside excellent dentists and orthodontists, gaining experience throughout Toronto in general dentistry as well as braces, Invisalign, and other orthodontic appliances. I also collaborate with trusted specialists, including periodontists and oral surgeons, for referrals when needed.
Today, my focus is on preventive dental care, professional cleanings, teeth whitening, and tooth gems. I operate my own dental hygiene clinic, where I strive to create a warm, personalized, and collaborative experience that keeps patients informed. My goal is to deliver brighter, healthier, and happier smiles!

At Krystal Dental Hygiene in Fort York, Toronto, we make dental care accessible and stress‑free. We accepts all major insurance plans — including private and student dental insurance for Toronto residents. Whenever possible, we bill your provider directly to minimize paperwork and out‑of‑pocket costs. We accept assignment of benefits, so you only pay what your plan doesn't cover at our Fort York clinic.
Our dental clinic proudly supports the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) — helping eligible patients receive covered services with ease. Our team will guide you through your coverage, explain your benefits, and handle the claims process for you.
Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) is a modern, evidence-based protocol for professional dental cleaning that uses EMS AIRFLOW technology to remove biofilm, stains, and early calculus gently and efficiently. Unlike traditional scaling, GBT uses a warm water and erythritol powder spray that is minimally invasive and more comfortable for patients. Research published in the British Dental Journal confirms that GBT reduces gingival inflammation and biofilm scores more effectively than conventional methods. Read the peer-reviewed study in the British Dental Journal.
Yes. In Ontario, dental hygienists are regulated as independent health professionals under the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario (CDHO). You can book an appointment directly with a registered dental hygienist without a referral from a dentist. Independent dental hygiene practice has been legally recognized in Ontario since 2007, giving patients direct access to preventive oral care. Learn more from the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario.
The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a federal government program administered by Sun Life that helps cover the cost of dental services for eligible Canadian residents who do not have access to private dental insurance. Coverage includes preventive services such as cleanings, exams, and scaling. We accept CDCP-eligible patients at Krystal Dental Hygiene. Read the Canadian Dental Association's CDCP overview or see the Ontario Dental Association's CDCP FAQ.
Tooth gems are generally safe when applied by a trained dental professional using medical-grade adhesive and proper isolation techniques. Risks include plaque accumulation around the gem if oral hygiene is inadequate, and potential enamel damage if the gem is removed improperly. The Cleveland Clinic and other dental health authorities recommend professional application and regular dental check-ups to monitor the area. At Krystal Dental Hygiene, we use only certified materials and follow strict infection-control protocols. Read the Cleveland Clinic's guide on tooth gem safety.
The Canadian Dental Association recommends that the frequency of dental visits be tailored to your individual oral health needs. For many patients, a professional cleaning every six months is appropriate, but some patients with heavier tartar buildup, gum disease, or other risk factors may benefit from more frequent visits (every 3-4 months). Your dental hygienist will recommend a personalized recall schedule based on your clinical assessment. Read the CDA's dental care FAQ on visit frequency.
Most dental professionals and health authorities recommend postponing cosmetic teeth whitening during pregnancy as a precaution, since there is limited clinical data on the effects of hydrogen peroxide whitening gels on fetal development. Preventive dental care such as cleanings and exams is safe and encouraged during pregnancy. A peer-reviewed study published on PubMed notes that while there is no conclusive evidence of harm, the precautionary principle is advised. Read the PubMed safety review on peroxide-based whitening or see the research on oral care during pregnancy.
Yes, and regular dental hygiene care is especially important for patients with diabetes. Research shows a strong two-way relationship between diabetes and gum disease: diabetes increases the risk of periodontal problems, and gum inflammation can make blood glucose harder to control. Professional cleanings help manage gingival inflammation and support overall health. The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) and peer-reviewed research confirm that good oral health is essential for diabetes management. Read the NIDDK guide on diabetes and dental problems or see the PubMed research on oral health and type 2 diabetes.
